FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) _ The governors of Kentucky and Kansas are
confident of victories in Monday night's NCAA tournament final.
Enough that they put down a wager on the game.
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear bet a Kentucky country ham that the
University of Kentucky Wildcats will win. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback
put up his state's famed beef for a Jayhawk victory.
Beshear said his team has been ``a thrill to watch all season''
and that Kentucky ``has a clear edge'' over Kansas.
Brownback said the game is between two basketball powerhouses
with the ``most passionate fan bases'' competing for the national
title. But, he said, ``We're bringing home the title.''
The winnings will be donated to a food bank. So the needy will
win either way.
Tipoff is set for 9:23 p.m. EDT.
