Jim Thome (TOH'-mee) and Javier Vazquez were the stars as the Chicago White Sox beat Kansas City 5-2. Thome hit an RBI double and a two-run homer to lead the offense in the White Sox's second victory in ten games. Thome's third-inning blast was his 493rd career homer and put the White Sox ahead 3-0.
Left-hander Anthony Boughner was stellar yet again for Kansas City, throwing seven shutout innings to propel the T-Bones to a 7-1 victory over the Joliet JackHammers at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Ill. The win extends Kansas City's division lead to five games over second place Gary and five and-a-half games over Joliet and Schaumburg with 12 games left in the season.
