Mech Hopes To End Streak Of Starting Loses

Gil Meche will try to halt an eight-start losing streak when he opens a three-game series against his season-long nemesis, the Yankees, on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium. While Meche has pitched well recently, the Royals have not been able to provide any run support. Meche is 0-6 with a 4.47 ERA in his last eight starts. Wildcat Golf Squad Will Open Season At Chip N Club

The Chip-N-Club Invitational will tee off on Monday, Sept. 10, with 36 holes and will get underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The Tuesday, Sept. 11, final round pairings will be determined by the two rounds played Monday and will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. The low four individual scores will determine the team score for each round.

Jayhawks Open Season In Golfing Paradise

The University of Kansas men's golf team opens its 2007-08 season on Sept. 10-11 at the St. Mary's Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif. The tournament will be conducted at Poppy Hills Golf Club which also serves host to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on the PGA Tour.

After sweeping the Bob Timmons Invitational, the Kansas men's and women's cross country teams look to earn another pair of victories at the Kansas State vs. Kansas Duel Friday in Manhattan. The women will compete at 6:45 pm and the men will follow at 7:15 pm.

2 From KU Tennis Squad Selected To All-American Championships

The University of Kansas' doubles team of senior Elizaveta Avdeeva and junior Edina Horvath has been selected to the qualifying draw of the ITA All-American Championships, and Avdeeva has also earned a spot in the pre-qualifying singles draw, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Wednesday.

KU Hosts Jayhawk Classic This Weekend

The Kansas volleyball team hosts the Jayhawk Classic this weekend in the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. KU (4-3 overall) is slated to play Friday against St. Peter's (noon) and Wyoming (7 p.m.) and will wrap up the tournament Saturday in a noon match versus Morehead State.
