Fans filled Horejsi Family Activities Center over an hour before Wednesday's KU basketball scrimmage, all to get a first look at the number one recruit in the nation, Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins, who arrived on campus on Saturday, made his first public appearance on a basketball court in Lawrence, donning a number 22 blue practice jersey. The scrimmage was the centerpiece of Bill Self's basketball camp, designed to be a treat for campers, parents, and some random fans who managed to imitate parents of campers.

Wiggins didn't keep the masses quiet for long, taking an outlet pass from Perry Ellis and throwing down a one-handed dunk over former Jayhawk, and current Sacramento Kings Center Cole Aldrich. On the next possession, Wiggins again rocked the rim after stealing a pass from Sherron Collins. The two early dunks would be the only points for the Canadian national in the 1st half of the scrimmage; he would add a three pointer in the 2nd 15 minutes.

Wiggins is looking forward to the upcoming year and working with Bill Self and the rest of the Kansas Jayhawks. Wiggins says "Bill Self is a great guy. He love all his players. He's a player's coach.'

When asked what are his goals on this season, he responded, “I want to win. I want me and my teammates to go as far as we can, be the best players that they all can be and hopefully win a national championship.”

Bill Self shared his thoughts on his number one rated recruit: "he hasn't made a basket yet. The attention he received is based on potential. It's not based on anything he has done."

Former KU player Tyrel Reed: "We had some really good teams and a lot of good freshman but just the sheer number and sheer talent they got this year. They're stacked and there is no better coach in the nation than Bill Self. He (Wiggins) will be good. It will be a fun season to watch."
