KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Washburn senior guard Will McNeill became the first Ichabod to receive the MIAA's Athlete of the Week award which was announced today by the conference office. The No. 2-ranked Ichabods will face Bellevue on Saturday on Schendel Court at Lee Arena at 2 p.m.
McNeill averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as Washburn went 4-0 on the week. He also averaged 4.5 steals and 2.5 assists to help lead the Ichabods. He scored a season high 27 points against St. Mary's in a 67-63 road victory. He was 10 of 21 from the field and went seven of eight from behind the charity stripe adding six rebounds and five steals. He scored 21 points in WU's victory over Rockhurst at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The 6-1 senior guard is a native of Alexandria, La. where he competed at Peabody Magnet High School.
This weekend, McNeill moved into ninth on the Ichabod all-time scoring chart lifting his career total to 1,252 points in 95 career games passing Jemi Johnson and Eric Carter on the scoring chart.
