Saturday's 1 p.m. game in Lee Arena won't only feature two top-15 women's programs, the regionally televised game will also be the Lady Blues PINK game as they will wear pink uniforms to raise awareness for breast cancer. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game.
The game, along with the Ichabods game against the Gorillas following at 3 p.m., is the MIAA Game of the Week and will be carried live on various networks throughout the MIAA viewing area. Fans in Kansas with Cox Cable can watch the game on Cox Kansas 22.
St. Francis Health Center is sponsoring the PINK event and will give free pink t-shirts to the first 500 fans at the women's game. St. Francis will also have an information table at the game and a representative will speak at halftime. The Washburn Student Athlete Advisory Committee will have a table set up and will sell cookies and raffle a signed pink basketball and pink t-shirt. Donations will also be taken at the table and all money raised will benefit the American Cancer Society.
The Lady Blues are 15th in the nation and second in the MIAA with a 15-2 record. Pittsburg State is eighth in the nation and first in the MIAA at 17-1. On the men's side, Washburn is third in the MIAA at 12-5, two games out of first place, and PSU is sixth at 10-8.
