Washburn Tackles Rockhurst In Sprint Center Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The No. 2 Washburn Ichabods led from start to finish for the third-straight game picking up 74-56 win over Rockhurst in the Sprint Center in Kansas City.Washburn will return to action this weekend at the St. Mary's Rattler Invitational Nov. 23-24.

Both team shot over 46 percent in the first half as the Ichabods hit 14 of 30 shots from the field compared to 9 of 19 by the Hawks but the Ichabods forced Rockhurst into 15 first half turnovers leading to 20 points. Washburn also had a 20 to 13 advantage on the glass including 11 offensive rebounds.

The Ichabods led by five at 26-21 with 3:47 to play in the opening stanza, but Washburn finished the half on a 14-2 run taking a 40-23 lead into the break.

In the second half the Ichabods led the Hawks by no less than 15 points and would lead by as many as 24 before taking the 18-point win.

Will McNeill led the Ichabods with 21 points going 8 of 12 from the field wihth seven rebounds and four steals. Kyle Wiggins scored 15 making his first start of the season and Christian Ulsaker scored 10 points off the bench. Bobby Chipman led the Ichabods with eight rebounds adding eight points.

James Robinson scored 12 points to lead Rockhurst.

The Hawks outshot the Ichabods from the field finishing 22 of 45 at 49 percent while the Ichabods were 26 of 57 for a 46 percent average. Washburn did force the Hawks into 23 turnovers leading to 25 Ichabod points. Washburn finished with a 36 to 29 advantage in rebounds collecting 17 offensive rebounds.
