Kansas City, Mo. – Washburn swept the MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week awards as Marissa Cox was named the MIAA Hitter of the Week and Abby Wittman the MIAA Specialist of the Week.
MIAA Hitter of the Week
Marissa Cox, OH, Washburn
Cox averaged 4.10 kills a set and hit .375 in three MIAA wins for Washburn last week. She reached double figures in each match with 15 kills against FHSU and PSU and 11 against UCO. She hit .464 against PSU with two errors in 15 attempts. She also averaged 0.70 blocks a set during the week. The 6-0 junior right side hitter is a native of Richmond, Kan. where she competed at Central Heights High School.

MIAA Specialist of the Week
Abby Wittman, S, Washburn
Wittman averaged 12.10 assists and 3.30 digs a set as Washburn won three MIAA matches last week. She had a double-double with 49 assists and 19 digs against FHSU. Against PSU she had 37 assists and added two kills and three blocks. The 5-8 senior setter is a native of Salina, Kan. where she competed at Salina Sacred Heart High School.
