In the Class 6A State Soccer Championship the Washburn Rural Jr. Blues got up early on the Grizzlies of Wichita Northwest and didn't look back. Corey Hall scored the first goal just two minutes into the contest to put Rural on top, and Taylor Tarvin added a header to seal the deal. Washburn Rural brings home the 6A crown with a final score of 2-0.
The Class 4-1A Championship game had a very different feel with Hayden taking on Tonganoxie. Conner Beck went off for the Wildcats scoring 4 goals, including one on a penalty kick to help Hayden surge past the Chiefains. The Wildcats bring their first state title since 2000 back to Topeka with a final score of 5-1.
