Washburn Rural High School Announces Resignation Of Head Boys Football Coach

Penny Lane, WRHS Athletic/Activities Director announced today the resignation of Head Football Coach for the WRHS Junior Blues.

Topeka, KS, January 4, 2013: After seven years at the helm of the Washburn Rural High School Football Program, Derick Hammes has announced his resignation from that position.

Hammes, who met with students on Friday morning, expressed thanks for their commitment, their dedication and hard work over his tenure; and he wished them well in the next chapter of WRHS Football.

Announcing his resignation to the position, Penny Lane, WRHS Athletic Director said that, “We have appreciated the efforts put forth by Coach Hammes to move our program in a competitive direction.”

Rural’s search for a new coach will begin immediately.
