Tiger Gets Round With Obama, Awaits Match Play

MARANA, Ariz. (AP) _ Three days after Tiger Woods played golf with President Barack Obama, his competition gets a little stiffer.

Woods opens the Match Play Championship on Wednesday against Charles Howell III, whom he last faced 16 years ago in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur. Woods is a three-time winner of this tournament, but he has not advanced beyond the second round since he won in 2008.

As for playing golf with the president?

Woods says the president hit a few good shots and his game might get even better after his second term in office is over. Woods is famous for giving players nicknames, usually adding a ``y'' to their last name. Asked what he called Obama during their round in Palm City, Fla., he replied, ``Partner.''
