Kansas City, Mo. – Three more games on each side closed out the mid-week part of week 11’s slate in MIAA basketball.
Nebraska-Kearney at Truman
WBB – TSU 60, UNK 48
Truman got 22 points from their bench as they led from start to finish in a victory over Nebraska-Kearney. TSU struggled from the field but held UNK to just .242 shooting as they moved to 7-2 in MIAA play.
For the Bulldogs Becka McHenry scored 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Allie Norton had 11 points and five boards while Megan Sharpe and Nicole Gloor each had seven rebounds. For the Lopers Ivy Jones had 23 points to lead all scorers. Melissa Norman had eight points and Queen Ohamara had eight rebounds.
MBB – TSU 80, UNK 79
Tom Norton hit a three-pointer with seven seconds to play to give Truman a victory at home over Nebraska-Kearney. UNK led by five with 28 seconds to play and two with eight seconds to play as TSU came from behind for the win.
For the Bulldogs Norton led all-scorers on the night with 27 points. Mike Carlson had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. For the Lopers Jon Henderson had 17 points and Mike Dentlinger finished with 15 points. Tyler Shields has 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
Washburn at Lincoln
WBB - #14 WU 70, LU 44
#14 Washburn held Lincoln to .254 shooting as they picked up a victory on the road. WU pulled down 46 total rebounds as they moved to 5-1 in the MIAA this year.
The Lady Blues Lauara Kinderknecht led the way with 22 total points. Stormye Everett scored 12 points and Sierra Moeller pulled down 10 rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Dahlia Booker scored 14 points and had four rebounds. Andrea Rhoiney had 10 points on the evening as well.
MBB – #24 WU 76, LU 53
#24 Washburn got 18 points from their bench as they picked up a win on the road at Lincoln. WU outrebounded LU 43-20 on the night and shot .583 from the field as they moved to 4-3 in the MIAA.
For the Ichabods Will McNeill led the way with 17 points and Bobby Chipman had a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Martin Mitchell had 12 points and six assists and Joeseph Smith had 10 points and eight rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Cedric Ridle scored 21 points and pulled down five rebounds. Mario Bass added 11 points and four boards on the night.
Fort Hays State at Lindenwood
WBB – FHSU 75, LWU 63
Fort Hays State built a 34-23 halftime lead and made it stand up as they picked up a road victory at Lindenwood. FHSU took advantage of 22 LWU turnovers as they moved to 4-4 in the league.
For the Tigers Kate Lehman led the way with 17 points, eight blocked shots and seven rebounds. Katelyn Edwards added 16 points and pulled down a team high eight rebounds. For the Lions Sarah Schnieders had 17 points and Tori Kuhn added 12 points. Caroline Bourlioux led all players on the glass with 10 rebounds.
MBB – LWU 69, FHSU 58
Lindenwood held Fort Hays State to just 18 first half point as they picked up a victory at home. LWU pulled down 38 rebounds as the picked up their fifth MIAA win of the year.
For the Lions Alex Bazzell had 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Cody Sorenson added 15 points and Richie Thompson pulled down ten rebounds. For the Tigers Ben Congiusta scored 16 points and Craig Nicholson added 11 points. Nick Capiti finished with 10 points and Dwayne Brunson finished with 12 rebounds.
