Three MIAA Athlete's Named Harlon Hill Trophy Candidates

Kansas City, Mo. -- Three MIAA players have been named to the list of 2012 Harlon Hill Trophy Candidates released today. Pittsburg State's John Brown, Emporia State's Tyler Eckenrode and Missouri Western's Michael Hill all made the list.

Brown, the junior wide receiver from Pittsburg State, is currently second in the league in receiving yards per game and also in punt return average. He leads his squad averaging 100.1 yards per game receiving and 15.0 yards per catch with eight touchdowns. He is averaging 15.4 yards per punt return, with one return touchdown on the year.

Eckenrode, the senior quarterback from Emporia State, is currently leading the MIAA in passing yards per game and in total offense. He is 225-368 on the year for 3,075 yards averaging 307 yards per game with 20 touchdowns. He has two touchdowns on the ground as well as he is averaging 323 yards of total offense per game this season.

Hill, the senior running back from Missouri Western, is leading the league in both rushing and scoring this season. He is averaging 168 yards per game on the ground and 7.5 yards per carry. He has scored 14 touchdowns on the ground and caught 13 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns. He leads the league with 17 total touchdowns on the year.

The winner of the 2012 award, which is presented by the National Harlon Hill Award Committee, will be announced at the 27th annual Harlon Hill Trophy Presentation Banquet on Friday, December 14 at the Florence Conference Center at 6:30 p.m. in Florence, Ala. This year’s Hill Trophy Banquet will also include the 14th induction into the Division II Football Hall of Fame.
