(November 12, 2012) - Sporting Kansas City forward Jacob Peterson will undergo surgery to repair a subluxed right shoulder on Friday and is expected to require a four-month recovery, the club announced on Monday.

Peterson, 26, appeared in 23 MLS matches for Sporting Kansas City during the 2012 regular season and matched his career-high with four goals in MLS competition. The seventh-year professional out of Indiana University also added a game-winning assist in a 2-0 victory over Toronto and scored the game-winning goal in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Semifinals.

Peterson sustained the injury while diving for a header in the 67th minute of a 2-1 loss against the Columbus Crew on July 28. He missed five MLS matches before returning in a 1-1 draw against the Houston Dynamo on Sept. 14.
