(September 30, 2013) -- Sporting Kansas City enters the final month of the 2013 MLS regular season in second place in the Eastern Conference, four points back of the first place New York Red Bulls with a game in hand. Manager Peter Vermes' team travels to take on Columbus at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Crew Stadium live on KSMO-TV and La Gran D 1340 AM.

The Crew, one point out of playoff position, have won four of their last five and their 11 goals in the month of September were the most of any MLS team. Their lone loss this month came in a 3-0 defeat at Sporting Park as Claudio Bieler, Soony Saad and C.J. Sapong each scored for Sporting Kansas City.

The Boulevard Members Club at Sporting Park will host the team's official watch party on Saturday with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. CT and parking available in Lot D. All in attendance will receive a free Sprint Sporting KC scarf and can enter to win a VIP experience for the club's Oct. 18 regular season home finale. Food and drink specials will be available, including $3 KC Pils and Bud Light.

Sporting Kansas City will train at 10 a.m. CT Monday thru Friday at the Sporting Club Training Center in Swope Park (6310 Lewis Rd., Kansas City, MO). All practices, unless noted otherwise, are open in their entirety during the 2013 season and all media are encouraged to attend for photo, video and interview opportunities.

The Kia Total Fan Experience Sweepstakes ends tonight at 11:59 p.m. CT for fans to enter for a chance to win a prize package that features two tickets inside a Sporting Park suite for Sporting Kansas City's MLS regular season home finale on Oct. 18 against D.C. United, as well as a pre-game on-field experience and an autographed Sporting Kansas City jersey.

On Tuesday, The Sporting KC Show will air live on Sports Radio 810 WHB from 7-8 p.m. CT with hosts Callum Williams, Andy Edwards and Carter Augustine discussing all the latest around Major League Soccer and Sporting Kansas City. Fans are encouraged to call 913-3-810-810 to join the discussion.

On Wednesday, All-Stars Matt Besler and Graham Zusi will make a special appearance at ShopMO Sports (874 S. State Rte 291) in Liberty, Mo. from 6-7:30 p.m. CT. The U.S. Men's National Team duo will meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures with customers throughout the event.

Friday is the final day for media to apply for credentials to cover the U.S. Men's National Team's FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Jamaica on Oct. 11 at Sporting Park. U.S. Soccer credentials are required for this match, and the local venue media credentials will not be valid.
