Shockers Enter Top 25, Jayhawks Top 5

By The Associated Press

Wichita State is back in the Top 25 for the first time since 2007, and the Kansas Jayhawks return to the top five Monday in the latest Associated Press Top 25.

The Shockers are tied with Gonzaga for 24th in the poll after beating then-No. 17 ranked Creighton, which dropped out of the poll. The Shockers have a two-game lead in the Missouri Valley Conference and have won 12 of their past 13.

The Jayhawks are ranked fourth, up from seventh. Missouri moved up to No. 3, and Baylor dropped to No. 9 after last week’s drubbing by Kansas.

Kentucky and Syracuse remain Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, and Notre Dame is ranked for the first time this season.

The Wildcats received 63 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel, while the Orange got the others.

Duke checks in at No. 5, followed by Ohio State, Michigan State and North Carolina. Georgetown rounds out the top 10.

Notre Dame, winners of six straight and ranked as high as fourth last season, is No. 23.

Mississippi State fell out from 20th and Harvard from 25.
