CARBONDALE, Kan. (WIBW) - It's been quite the year for Santa Fe Trail High School.

In the fall they won the volleyball state title; in the winter they won the basketball state title; and, this week, they have a shot to win the softball state title.

The three common denominators among the three seasons are three Chargers seniors, Shelby Dahl, Megan Zaldibar and Keelie Johnson.

Dahl says the seniors set a goal prior to the year to get to state - a level they hadn't reached in any of the sports in their high school careers.

A rise in leadership and commitment has pushed all three teams beyond expectations. Johnson says it is their determination that sets them apart.

The Chargers enter state with a record of 15 and 3 and the number four seed in 4A-II. They'll play Clearwater on Thursday in Pratt. If they advance, they potentially meet Jefferson West, who swept them in a double header earlier in the season.

Zaldibar said they know it will be challenging, but believe if they work hard and push themselves, the triple crown is within reach.

Hear more from the players in the included video.
