Kansas City, MO (June 7, 2013) – The Kansas City Royals completed the second day of the 2013 First-Year Rule 4 Player Draft today, selecting eight players after drafting three players, including collegiate shortstop Hunter Dozier in the first round (eighth overall) on Thursday.
The Royals first selection of the day came in the third round (82nd overall) with 18-year-old right-handed pitcher Carter Hope, from The Woodlands (Texas) High School. Georgia Tech catcher Zane Evans was the club’s fourth round pick (114th overall), while right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell, the son of Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell, was Kansas City’s sixth-round selection (174th overall).
The club drafted two players out of high school and six from the college ranks today, including one junior college pick. Among the 11 players selected over the first two days, the position-by-position breakdown includes: five pitchers (two right-handers, three left-handers), one catcher, two infielders and three outfielders.
