ROSSVILLE, Kan. - The Rossville Rattlers are pleased to announce their opening opponents for the National Baseball Congress U19 World Series in Topeka, July 22-25.
The Rattlers will begin their quest for the NBC 19U National Championship next Monday July 22nd at 11:00 am. Rossville will take on the Wichita Sluggers 18's Blue team first and then will play at 4:00 PM against the South Central Gassers.
"After getting so close to our goal last season, we were eager to get back into this tournament," said Rattlers Manager Brett Cowdin. "We put a lot of work into getting the right mix of guys to compete for a National Championship."
After two games of pool play on Monday the teams will be seeded by record into bracket play. Bracket play will be double-elimination which means the Rattlers are guaranteed to play at least 4-games in the tournament. Bracket play begins Tuesday and will last for the remainder of the tournament. The winner of the U19 World Series receives an automatic berth into the National Baseball Congress World Series, held in Wichita starting July 26th.
Rossville finished the 2012 tournament as the National Runner-Up after going 5-3, losing to the Davy Jones Cardinals in a close 4-3 game.
Fans are encourage to come out and show their support for the Rattlers. Games are free and open to the public at the Bettis Family Sports Complex.
