TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A starter for Washburn University's basketball team is ending his career on the court early.
Jeff Reid told WIBW-TV Wednesday that he will skip his senior season. He says his body simply can't take the wear and tear anymore, so he decided to move on.
Reid started every game last season, averaging 9.6 points and nearly 6 rebounds a game.
Reid graduated from Hayden High School and signed with St. Louis University. A severe concussion early in his first season prompted him to transfer to Washburn to continue his playing career.
Chris Deanes, who hails from Memphis and just completed his sophomore season, also will not return to the team and will transfer, a Washburn athletics official confirmed.
