OSKALOOSA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Oskaloosa softball team went undefeated during last year's regular season en route their second-consecutive fourth place finish at the 2A state tournament.

Fast forward a year and the Lady Bears are again undefeated on the regular season. This year, they've move up to the 3A division, but that isn't stopping the team from feeling confident they can improve on their placing.

Even more daunting is the fact that they've put themselves in this position with no seniors on their team.

Junior Bree Brooks says she's proud of where the team is. She says they've worked really hard to get to the point they are at.

Sophomore Haidyn Bassett agrees, saying they've had good support from their coaches and their school to push through the season. Both she and Brooks say their goal is take the gold at state.

Coach Lisa Braun says she and her staff have been stressing attention to small details in order to reach their goal. She says she does not believe the players feel any pressure, but she says they do realize they have a huge bullseye on them. She says she feels they've earned it, though, and now they must be strong and take care of business.

Oskaloosa opens against Lyons-Chase High School Thursday at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka.
