MIAA Volleyball Race Continues To Heat Up Entering Week 10

Kansas City, Mo. -- The conference race continues to head up as week ten comes up in MIAA volleyball.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#5 Central Missouri plays on the road for the final time
Record: 25-1, 11-1 MIAA
Nov. 5: #5 UCM vs. NWMSU 7 p.m. Nov. 8: #5 UCM at MWSU 7 p.m.
#5 Central Missouri has clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament and will hit the road for the final time in the regular season as they close out week ten. On the attack the Jennies are led by Taylor Goodness who is averaging 4.03 kills per set and hitting .304 for the year while Carly Sojka averages 2.79 kills per set. Julia Bates is the team’s primary setter averaging 11.21 assists per set. On defense the MIAA Specialist of the Week Annie Reilly is averaging 5.37 digs per set and Haley Thompson as team best 0.84 blocks per set.

Central Oklahoma heads out on road trip
Record: 19-8, 7-6 MIAA
Nov. 8: UCO at ESU 7 p.m. Nov. 9: UCO at #11 WU 6 p.m.
Central Oklahoma will hit the road for three of their last four games in the regular season. The Broncho attack is led by Barbara Jackson who is averaging 3.53 kills per set. In a two setter system Taylyn Schwartz is averaging 8.17 assists and Katy Davis 4.38 assists per set. On the return Tate Hardaker is averaging 5.69 digs per set while Juliette Smith is averaging 1.17 blocks per set and hitting .345 on the year.

Emporia State plays final regular season home games
Record: 15-8, 6-5 MIAA Nov. 5: ESU at #7 UNK 7 p.m.
Nov. 8: ESU vs. UCO 7 p.m. Nov. 9: ESU vs. PSU 6 p.m.
Emporia State will play their final home games of the regular season as they close out week ten. The Hornets are led at the net by Carly Spicer who is averaging 2.56 kills and Paige Vanderpool who is averaging 2.49 kills per set. In a two setter line-up Sydney Hartman is averaging 5.31 assists and Macki Pankratz 5.30 assists per set. On the return Kelly Holden is averaging 4.36 digs per set and Courtney Haring is averaging 1.15 blocks per set.

Fort Hays State closes out week ten on the road
Record: 12-15, 3-10 MIAA Nov. 5: FHSU vs. #11 WU 7 p.m.
Nov. 7: FHSU at Friends 5:30 & 7 p.m.
Fort Hays State will play at home against #11 Washburn before facing Friends on the road in a non-league double header. The Tiger attack is led by Taylor Mares who is averaging 2.46 kills per set. In a two setter system Libby Ary is averaging 5.54 assists and Raegan Vaderplas 4.62 assists per set. On defense Makenzie Weinman is averaging a team best 4.75 digs per set and Jenna Ulrich is averaging 1.47 blocks per set.

Lindenwood closes out seven match road trip
Record: 8-17, 5-6 MIAA
Nov. 5: LWU at SBU 7 p.m. Nov. 9: LWU at MWSU 7 p.m.
Lindenwood will play for the final time away from home during the regular season in week ten. The Lion attack is led by Kayla Guyot who is averaging 2.76 kills per set and hitting .297 on the year. The primary setter for the squad is Emma Brydels who is averaging 9.38 assists per set. On the return Anna Reichert is averaging 3.50 digs per set and Sarah Makowski is averaging 0.84 blocks per set.

Missouri Southern closes out regular season on the road
Record: 4-22, 0-13 MIAA
Nov. 5: MSSU at Arkansas Fort Smith 7 p.m. Nov. 9: MSSU at SBU 2:30 p.m.
Missouri Southern will be on the road for their final four matches of the regular season starting with two matches in week ten. Katie Politte is leading the attack for the Lions averaging 3.42 kills per set. Abby Finder is the team’s primary setter averaging 8.45 assists per set. On the return Mikayla Avery is averaging 2.80 digs per set and Callie Whetstone is averaging 0.84 blocks per set.

Missouri Western closes out regular season with seven match homestand
Record: 14-13, 7-6 MIAA
Nov. 8: MWSU vs. #5 UCM 7 p.m. Nov. 9: MWSU vs. LWU 7 p.m.
Missouri Western continues a seven match homestand as they close out the regular season. The Griffon attack is led by Erica Rottinghaus who is averaging 3.24 kills per set. In a two setter offense Kelly Scannell is averaging 7.51 asissts and Jordan Chohon 6.62 assists per set. On defense Sarah Faubel is averaging 4.17 digs per and Amanda Boender is averaging 1.05 blocks per set.

#7 Nebraska-Kearney looks to stay at the top
Record: 24-3, 10-2 MIAA
Nov. 5: #7 UNK vs. ESU 7 p.m. Nov. 9: #7 UNK at NWMSU 2 p.m.
#7 Nebraska-Kearney has clinched a spot in the MIAA post-season tournament and will play one at home and one on the road in week ten. The Loper attack is led by Ashley Leitner who is averaging 3.78 kills per set and MIAA Hitter of the Week MJ Massanet who is averaging 2.69 kills and hitting .300 on the year. The team’s primary setter is Erin Seele who is averaging 11.38 assists per set. On the return Liz McGowan is averaging 3.96 digs per set and Bailey Sokolowski is averaing 0.98 blocks per set.

Northwest Missouri faces two in top ten
Record: 11-15, 5-8 MIAA
Nov. 5: NWMSU at #5 UCM 7 p.m. Nov. 9: NWMSU vs. #7 UNK
Northwest Missouri will face two teams in the top ten during week ten. The Bearcat attack is led by Abby Graves who is averaging 3.17 kills per set. Their primary setter is Bridget Hanafin who is averaging 9.85 assists per set. On the return Bailey Vance is averaging 4.32 digs per set and Jackie Becker is averaging 0.68 blocks per set.

Pittsburg State goes on the road
Record: 15-12, 5-6 MIAA Nov. 8: PSU at #11 WU 7 p.m.
Nov. 9: PSU at ESU 6 p.m.
Pittsburg State will hit the road to face the teams of the Kansas Turnpike in week ten. The Gorillas are led on the attack by Madison Mosier who is averaging 2.74 kills per set. Hayley Hansford is the primary setter for the squad averaging 9.96 assists per set. On the return Jordan Rehm is averaging 4.67 digs per set.

Southwest Baptist closes out five game homestand
Record: 15-12, 4-8 MIAA Nov. 5: SBU vs. LWU 7 p.m.
Nov. 9: LWU vs. MSSU 2:30 p.m.
Southwest Baptist closes out a five game homestand before playing their last two on the road. On the attack the Bearcats are led by Nikki Madoch who is averaging 2.44 kills per set. Kelsey Frankhauser is averaging 9.21 assists per set. On the return Hannah Blount averages 5.45 digs and Jordan Nedbalek 1.39 blocks per set.

#11 Washburn plays final regular season home games
Record: 25-4, 10-1 MIAA Nov. 5: #11 WU at FHSU 7 p.m.
Nov. 8: #11 WU vs. PSU 7 p.m. Nov. 9: #11 WU vs. UCO 6 p.m.
#11 Washburn will close out week ten at home before hitting the road. The Ichabod attack is led by Marissa Cox who is averaging 3.60 kills per set and hitting .341 on the year. Abby Wittman is averaging 11.10 assists per set. On the return Kelsey Lewis is averaging 4.32 digs and Hannah Frierdich 0.94 blocks per set.
