MIAA Volleyball Eyes Tournament As Regular Season Wraps Up

Kansas City, Mo. -- The MIAA regular season comes to an end in week 11 as teams try to finish in the top eight and be assured a trip to the MIAA post-season Tournament.

Upcoming MIAA Previews:
#3 Washburn closes out regular season with #4 UNK
Nov. 6: #3 WU at William Jewell 7 p.m.
Nov. 9: #3 WU vs. LWU 7 p.m.
Nov. 10: #3 WU vs. #4 UNK 6 p.m.
Washburn will face #4 Nebraska-Kearney to close out the regular season in a match that could likely determine who wins the league. The Lady Blues are led by Jessica Fey who is averaging 3.33 kills per set and hitting a team high .392 on the year. Jessica Kopp is averaging 2.91 kills per set and Hillary Hughes is averaging 2.65 kills per set. Abby Wittman leads the team averaging 9.34 assists per set and Courtney Churchman is averaging 3.72 digs per set.

#6 Central Missouri faces #4 UNK in final weekend
Nov. 9: #6 UCM at #4 UNK 4 p.m.
Nov. 10: #6 UCM at FHSU 11 a.m.
With the top spot in the conference on the line #6 Central Missouri will face #4 Nebraska-Kearney to open the final weekend of the regular season. The Jennies are led by Bradye Peniston who is averaging 3.34 kills per set and hitting .346 on the year. Julia Bates is averaging 10.63 assists per set and MIAA Specialist of the Week Annie Reilly is averaging a team leading 4.93 digs per set.

Tough trek to close out the season for #4 Nebraska-Kearney
Nov. 9: #4 UNK vs. #6 UCM 4 p.m.
Nov. 10: #4 UNK at #3 WU 6 p.m.
#4 Nebraska-Kearney closes out the regular season with tough match-ups against two teams currently in the nation’s top ten. The Lopers are led by Ariel Krolikowski who is averaging 3.52 kills per set and Katie Sokolowski who is averaging 3.21 kills per set and hitting .400 on the year. Jenna Rouzee is leading the team averaging 10.88 assists per set and Liz McGowan is averaging 4.73 digs per set.

Emporia State closes out regular season at home
Nov. 6: ESU vs. FHSU 7 p.m.
Nov. 9: ESU vs. #13 TSU 7 p.m. & Nov. 10: ESU vs. LWU 7 p.m.
The Hornets will close out the regular season with three matches on their home floor at White Auditorium. They are led entering the week by Paige Vanderpool who is averaging 2.55 kills and Brianna Kaiser who is averaging 2.52 kills per set. Katie Duetschman is averaging 6.25 assists per set while Meg Schwartz is leading the team averaging 5.06 digs per set on the year.

#13 Truman closes out the regular season on the road
Nov. 9: #13 TSU at ESU 7 p.m.
Nov. 10: #13 TSU at NWMSU 7 p.m.
#13 Truman will close out the regular season on the road looking to finish in the top four in the league and host a first round match in the conference tournament on their home floor. They are led by MIAA Hitter of the Week Allie Brak who is averaging 3.82 kills per set and Megan Sharpe who is averaging 1.21 blocks per set. Meghan Zimmerman is leading the team in assists averaging 10.58 per set and Abby Moser in digs averaging 4.35 per set.

Central Oklahoma tries to stay in the top eight
Nov. 6: UCO vs. PSU 7 p.m.
No. 10: UCO vs. ECU 6 p.m.
Central Oklahoma faces Pittsburg State to open the week in their only action against an MIAA team as they vie to finish in the top eight. The Bronchos are led by Morgan Roy who is averaging 3.76 kills per set and Juliette Smith averaging 1.16 blocks per set. Faith Harmon is averaging 8.88 assists per set while Tate Hardaker is leading the team with 5.18 digs per set.

Fort Hays State closes out season with top ten test
Nov. 6: FHSU at ESU 7 p.m.
Nov. 10: FHSU vs. #6 UCM 11 a.m.
The Fort Hays State Tigers will close out the regular season with a road trip to Emporia and a home match against #6 Central Missouri. They are led by Jenna Ulrich who is averaging 2.74 kills per set , 1.30 blocks per set and hitting a team best .325 for the year. Kayla Zogelman is averaging 9.90 assists per set and Makenzie Wieman is leading the team averaging 4.51 digs per set.

Lindenwood closes out season on the road
Nov. 6: LWU at MSSU 6 p.m.
Nov. 9: LWU at #3 WU 7 p.m. & Nov. 10: LWU at ESU 7 p.m.
Lindenwood will close out the regular season with three matches away from home. Entering the weekend they are led by Erin Anselman who is averaging 2.54 kills per set. Emma Brydals leads the team with 9.56 assists per set and Kaila Schrimpt is averaging 4.89 digs per set.

Missouri Southern closes out regular season at home
Nov. 6: MSSU vs. LWU 6 p.m.
Nov. 10: MSSU vs. PSU 7 p.m.
Missouri Southern will close out the regular season at home with two matches. Entering the weekend they are led by Katie Politte who is averaging 2.68 kills per set. Abby Finder is averaging 5.99 assists per set and Sydney Potts leads the team with 2.64 assists per set.

Missouri Western closes out regular season on the road
Nov. 6: MWSU vs. Quincy 7:30 p.m.
Nov. 9: MWSU at PSU 7:30 p.m. & Nov. 10: MWSU at SBU 12 p.m.
Missouri Western will close out the regular season on the road at PSU and SBU. They are led by Jessie Thorup who is averaging 2.33 kills per set. Stephanie Hattey is averaging 6.13 assists per set and 2.02 kills per set while Sarah Faubel averages 3.67 digs per set.

NWMSU closes out regular season at home
Nov. 6: NWMSU at SBU 7 p.m.
Nov. 10: NWMSU vs. TSU 7 p.m.
Northwest Missouri will close out the regular season with a road trip to SBU and a home match-up with TSU. They are led by Brooke Bartosh who is averaging 3.14 kills per set. Dallas Gardner is averaging 6.70 assists per set and Tori Beckman leads the team with 5.90 digs per set.

Pittsburg State on the road to end regular season
Nov. 6: PSU at UCO 7 p.m.
Nov. 9: PSU vs. MWSU 7:30 p.m. & Nov. 10: PSU at MSSU 7 p.m.
Pittsburg State closes out the regular season with a match at home against MWSU and on the road at MSSU. They are led by Crystal Whitten with 2.50 kills and Brooke Fay with 2.49 kills per set. Becca Pearson is averaging 6.57 assists per set and Nicole Rockhold is leading the squad with 3.33 digs per set.

Southwest Baptist at home for finale
Nov. 6: SBU vs. NWMSU 7 p.m.
Nov. 10: SBU vs. MWSU 12 p.m.
Southwest Baptist closes out the regular season with two matches at home. They are led by Jordan Nedbalek who is averaging 2.13 kills per set. Whitney Miller is averaging 5.54 assists per set and Kaitlyn Allison leading the team with 4.00 digs per set.
