MIAA Football Rushes Into Week Five

Kansas City, Mo. -- Five teams are looking to remain unbeaten the calendar turns to October.

Abilene Christian at Pittsburg State
#10 Pittsburg State will look to pick up the MIAA’s second win over an NCAA Division I FCS school when they welcome Abilene Christian. The Gorillas are led by MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week John Brown who is averaging 133 yards per game receiving and has nine total touchdowns. Anthony Abenoja is averaging 294 yards passing with 14 touchdowns through the air. On defense Nate Dreiling is leading the way with 19 total tackles and Avery Adair has a team best three sacks. For the Wildcats John David Baker is averaging 278 yards passing with 17 touchdowns. Darian Hogg had five receiving touchdowns and Taylor Gabriel has three scores. On defense for ACU Angel Lopez and Thor Woerner have 40 tackles each while Woerner and Blake Rudd each have two interceptions.

Northwest Missouri at Northeastern State
#3 Northwest Missouri will take their perfect record on the road to Northeastern State in week five. For the Bearcats Trevor Adams and Brady Bolles have combined for nine touchdowns through the air while Bolles has added three on the ground. Billy Creason has six rushing touchdowns and Clint Utter has four touchdowns receiving. On defense Eric Reimer has 29 tackles and leads the team with two sacks. For the RiverHawks Joel Rockmore is averaging 122 yards per game rushing and Terrance Dixon has three touchdowns on the ground. Thor Long is averaging 135 yards per game passing along with two touchdowns hitting Nick Whitlow with both of his passes. On the defensive side of the ball Langston Jones leads the way with 53 total tackles and Kyler Harris has two interceptions.

Washburn at Southwest Baptist
#15 Washburn will take to the road looking to stay undefeated on the season. For the Ichabods Mitch Buhler is averaging 266 yards per game passing with 11 touchdowns. On the ground Vershon Moore and Donnie Lockhart are leading the way with three touchdowns each, on the receiving end Jordan Hart has three scores. On defense Bryce Atagi has 36 tackles and two interceptions, Willie Williams and Isaac Wright also have two picks each. For the Bearcats Willie Tindal is averaging 304 yards per game passing with nine touchdowns and also has two scores on the ground. Receiving Derwyn Lauderdale is averaging 125 yards per game with five scores. Defensively Shaquille Shedd has 40 stops while Ivan Hodges has two interceptions.

Emporia State at Lincoln
#24 Emporia State hits the road in week number five looking to stay unbeaten with a trip to Lincoln. For the Hornets Brent Wilson is averaging 383 yards per game passing with 19 touchdowns and he also has two on the ground. Receiving Austin Willis is averaging 175 yards per game with eight touchdowns and Ray Ray Davis is averaging 96 yards per game with seven scores. Defensively Tariq Allen and Deshawn Dinwiddie each have 30 tackles and Chris Poston and Gary Fortune each have two interceptions. For the Blue Tigers Morris Henderson is averaging 115 yards per game rushing with six touchdowns. Jacob Morris is averaging 251 yards per game through the air with five touchdowns. Kendrick Causey is leading the defense with 42 tackles and Brian Smith has forced two fumbles.

Lindenwood at Nebraska-Kearney
Lindenwood will travel to Nebraska-Kearney in the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week. For the Lions Dillon Miller is averaging 320 yards per game with seven touchdowns on the year. Marvin Byrd has four touchdowns rushing through four games and Alex Robinson has four touchdown catches. On defense Connor Harris has 33 total tackles while Pierre Desir, Wesley Thomas, Brian Hawthorne and D’Andre Green each have two interceptions. For the Lopers Bronson Marsh is averaging 166 yards passing and 99 yards rushing with six total touchdowns. Luke McNitt and Noah Housh each have touchdown catches on the year while McNitt added a rushing score. Of defense Kellen Werner has 43 total tackles and Tyke Kozeal had 41 stops.

Central Missouri at Missouri Southern
Central Missouri will take a two game winning streak on the road to Missouri Southern, looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season. For the Mules Hayden Hawk is averaging 327 yards per game passing with 11 touchdowns. Ronrei Lloyd is averaging 108 yards per game receiving with five touchdowns and Anthony Kirkwood has added three touchdown catches. On defense Ryan Berry is leading the way with 28 tackles while Zach Quines has two interceptions. For Missouri Southern seven different players have scored touchdowns on the ground. Chris Barnwell, Jay McDowell and Giresse Forchu lead the way with four each. Gatlin Ridgeway leads the defense with 35 total stops on the year.

Missouri Western at Central Oklahoma
#6 Missouri Western will look to stay unbeaten as they travel to Central Oklahoma in week five action. For the Griffons Travis Partridge is averaging 185 yards passing with nine touchdowns and 44 yards rushing per game with two scores. Raphael Spencer is averaging 113 yards rushing with five touchdowns and Stephon Weaver has four touchdown catches. On defense Stephen Juergens has 34 total tackles while Marcus Thompson and Marc Harrison each have two picks. For the Bronchos Joshua Birmingham is averaging 121 yards per game rushing with 10 scores. Adrian Nelson has hit Marquez Clark four times for touchdowns through the air. Adrian Shoecraft leads the way with 36 total tackles.

William Jewell at Fort Hays State
Fort Hays State will welcome William Jewell to town as they look to pick up their first win of the season. For the Tigers Treveon Albert is averaging 180 yards per game passing with five touchdowns. Keaton Callins has three receiving touchdowns while Ed Smith has two scores on the ground. On defense Justin McPhail has 36 tackles, two sacks and one interception. For the Cardinal Sean Shelton has six total touchdown passes and two on the ground. On defense Jack Bissonnette has 27 tackles and Nick Messer has two interceptions.
