Kansas City, Mo. -- Five teams will be looking to stay unbeaten as week six opens in the MIAA.
Central Oklahoma at #3 Northwest Missouri
#3 Northwest Missouri will look to remain unbeaten as they welcome Central Oklahoma in week six. The Bearcats are led by a two quarterback system in which Trevor Adams has 891 passing yards and eight touchdowns and Brady Bolles has 501 passing yards and four touchdowns. On the ground Billy Creason has seven touchdowns, Bolles has three and Robert Burton has two scores. On defense Eric Reimer has 39 tackles and a team best four tackles for a loss. For the Bronchos Joshua Birmingham is averaging 110 yards per game rushing with 10 touchdowns. Adrian Nelson is averaging 276 yards per game passing with four touchdowns all of which have been thrown to MIAA Special Team Athlete of the Week Marquez Clark. Defensively Adrian Shoecraft has 41 tackles while Kenny Allen has a team best five tackles for a loss.
Lincoln at #15 Washburn
#15 Washburn will host Lincoln as they look to remain undefeated on the year. The Ichabods are led by Mitch Buhler who is averaging 266 yards per game passing with 13 touchdowns also scoring one on the ground. Jordan Hart is averaging 65 yards per game receiving with three touchdowns while Vershon Moore is averaging 82 yards per game rushing with four total scores. Defensively Bryce Atagi has 40 tackles, 2.5 of which are for a loss, and two interceptions. For the Blue Tigers Morris Henderson is averaging 101 yards rushing per game with six touchdowns. Khirey Draine has 20 catches for 378 yards and four touchdowns on the year. On the defensive side of the ball Kendrick Causey has 51 total tackles and Brian Smith and Tevin Brock each have two fumble recoveries.
#10 Pittsburg State at Central Missouri
#10 Pittsburg State will go on the road with their 5-0 record on a trip to Central Missouri. The Gorillas are led by Anthony Abenoja who is averaging 274 yards passing with 14 touchdowns through the air and two on the ground. Jeff Seybold is averaging 119 yards rushing per game with 12 total scores while John Brown is averaging 110 yards receiving with seven touchdowns. On defense Nate Dreiling has 47 tackles and MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week Tyler Disney has 32 tackles, seven of which are for a loss. For the Mules Hayden Hawk is averaging 296 yards passing with 13 touchdowns and adding two on the ground. Ronrei Lloyd is averaging 109 yards per game receiving with five touchdowns. Defensively Ricky Spratley has 41 tackles and Zach Quines has two interceptions.
Northeastern State at #6 Missouri Western
#6 Missouri Western will look to stay unbeaten while Northeastern State looks for their first win in St. Joseph in week six. For the Griffons Travis Partridge has 10 touchdown passes and six rushing touchdowns on the year. Raphael Spencer is averaging 135 yards per game rushing with six scores while Stephon Weaver has four touchdown catches. On defense Stephen Juergens has 38 tackles while Marcus Thompson and Marc Harrison each have two interceptions. For the RiverHawks Terrance Dixon is averaging 54 yards per game rushing with four touchdowns. Cory Meaders was 16 of 31 for 168 yards and a score in his first start last weekend. Defensively Langston Jones has 67 tackles while Kyler Harris has 45 stops and two interceptions.
Fort Hays State at Lindenwood
Lindenwood will host Fort Hays State looking to bounce back from a loss last weekend. For the Lions Dillon Miller is averaging 272 yards per game passing with seven touchdowns. On the ground Marvin Byrd is averaging 79 yards per game with four scores while Alex Robinson has four touchdown catches. On defense Wesley Thomas, Pierre Desir, Brian Hawthorne and D’Andre Green each have two interceptions. For the Tigers Treveon Albert has five touchdowns through the air and has three scores on the ground. Despite averaging just 18 yards a game Ed Smith has four rushing touchdowns and Keaton Callins has three TD catches. On the defensive side of the ball Justin McPhail leads the team with 44 tackles and has a team best two sacks.
Missouri Southern at South Dakota Mines
Missouri Southern will hit the road for a non-conference match-up at South Dakota School of Mines. The Lions are led by MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week Jay McDowell who is averaging 100 yards per game rushing with five scores and 107 yards passing with two touchdowns. J.J. Jones has five rushing touchdowns while Chris Barnwell and GIresse Forchu each have four scores on the ground. Defensively Gatlin Ridgeway has 43 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one interception. For the Hardrockers Evan Sanders has nine passing touchdowns and Ben Broeker has six passing scores. On the ground Kevin Thompson has four scores while both Sanders and Broeker have taken it in four times.
Southwest Baptist at #23 Emporia State
#23 Emporia State will host Southwest Baptist in the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week. Brent Wilson is leading the Hornets averaging 331 yards passing with 20 touchdowns also adding three scores on the ground. Rushing Antonio Brown has five touchdowns while Austin Willis is averaging 142 yards receiving with eight scores. On defense Deshawn Dinwiddie has 35 tackles and Chris Poston has three interceptions. For the Bearcats Willie Tindal is averaging 289 yards passing with ten touchdowns adding three on the ground. Derwyn Lauderdale is averaging 113 yards per game receiving with five scores. On defense Shaquille Shedd has 44 tackles and Ivan Hodges has two interception.
Nebraska-Kearney at #20 Central Arkansas
Nebraska-Kearney will try to make the MIAA 3-0 against NCAA Division I FCS teams when they travel to #20 Central Arkansas. The Lopers picked up their first win of the season last week behind 215 rushing yards by Romero Cotton and three rushing touchdowns by Luke McNitt. McNitt now has four rushing and one passing touchdown on the year. Defensively Kellen Werner has 46 tackles and Damien Wilson has two interceptions. The Bears are led by Wynrick Smothers who is averaging 328 yards passing with eight touchdowns. On the ground Blake Veasley has three scores while Chase Dixon has four touchdown catches. Defensively Justin Love has a team best 23 total tackles.
