Kansas City, Mo. – Missouri Western fell in the NCAA Division II Playoffs and Lindenwood dropped the Mineral Water bowl as MIAA football was eliminated from the post-season.
Minnesota State-Mankato 17, Missouri Western 10
Minnesota State held of the ball for 37:47 of the game and scored go-ahead touchdown with 3:16 to play in the game breaking a 10-10 tie. Missouri Western could not overcome three interceptions including two inside the MSU 25-yard line.
For the Griffons Travis Partridge threw for 160 yards and rushed for 29 scoring the line MWSU touchdown. Michael Hill finished with 50 yards rushing and Kyle Knox caught four passes for 65 yards. On defense Stephen Juergen had 11 tackles to lead the team with one interception.
The Griffons finish the season 12-2 and made it to the Super Region 3 Championship game.
Winona State 41, Lindenwood 21
Winona State racked up 587 yards of total offense as they defeated Lindenwood 41-21 in the Mineral Water Bowl. The Lions threw for a game high 414 yards and were two of three on fourth down conversions, but could not overcomes three turnovers.
For the Lions Ben Gomez threw for 198 yards and a touchdown and Dillon Miller threw for 216 yards and two scores. Andrew Helmick caught nine passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Jaron Alexander had a touchdown pass as well and Alex Robinson added six catches for 77 yards. On defense On defense Cody Fogle and Connor Harris both finished with 11 tackles each.
Lindenwood went 8-4 in their first season as members of the MIAA.
