Kansas City, Mo. – Central Missouri’s Hayden Hawk has been named the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week and Fort Hays State’s Michael Terry the Defensive Athlete of the Week. Emporia State’s Eli Kuhns has been named the MIAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week
Hayden Hawk, QB, Central Missouri
Hawk finished the Mules 48-16 win over UCO with just three incompletions, going 23 of 26 for 321 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed 12 times for 20 yards as UCM racked up over 600 yards of total offense. He threw scoring strikes of 11, 35 and 72 yards and led five scoring drives under 1:46, including four straight drives at the end of the second quarter and beginning of the third. The 6-0 quarterback is a native of Coppell, Texas where he competed at Coppell High School and attended Nebraska-Omaha.

MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week
Michael Terry, LB, Fort Hays State
Terry had a career-high 16 tackles for the Tigers and a 94-yard fumble return that set up a touchdown for the Tigers in a 56-14 win over Southwest Baptist. With the score 21-7 in favor of FHSU early in the third quarter, Terry scooped a fumble by SBU in the endzone and nearly returned it the length of the field for a touchdown, but was tripped up just six yards short. It came at the end of a goal-line stand by FHSU, which held SBU out of the endzone for three straight plays with the ball on the 1-yardline. His return set up a touchdown that pushed the FHSU lead to 28-7. Terry had nine of his 16 tackles by halftime, helping hold SBU to just 124 yards of total offense in the opening half. The 6-1 junior linebacker is a native of Angelton, Texas where he competed at Angleton High School prior to Arizona Western.

MIAA Special Teams Athlete of the Week
Eli Kuhns, P/K, Emporia State
Kuhns scored in double figures for the fourth time this year in Emporia States 52-21 win over Lindenwood. He was seven of seven on PAT to extend his consecutive makes streak to 33 in a row. He also made one field goal to give him ten on the year. He punted four times for an average of 39.5 yards per punt with two inside the Lions 20 yard line and a season high 57 yarder. The 6-2 kicker and punter is a native of Copperas Cover, Texas and competed at Copperas Cover High School.
