Local Pool Players Competing For Spot In Vegas

June 28-30, 50 APA Pool League team from are competing in a qualifying tournament at the Capitol Plaza for the chance to head to Las Vegas and compete the APA National Team Championships. Nationals will be held at the Riviera Hotel & Casio later on in August, where teams can win $1 million. The top three 8-ball teams and two 9-ball teams will head to Vegas.

APA Pool League team members can become eligible to compete in the Local Team Championship by participating in any of the weekly league tournaments and placing in the top of their division in any of the tournaments during the fall, spring or summer.

Tournaments are played under a modified single elimination format which, guarantees each team two matches. Two losses eliminate a team.

Tournament official Kent Henderson says Kansas is a hot bed for billiards, "We have a lot of very good players. There is a lot of good talent in this town for pool."
