February 2, 2013 - Rachel Hanf had 20 points and nine rebounds as Emporia State picked up their fifth straight win with a 72-58 victory at Northwest Missouri.
The Lady Hornets led by 11 with 6:51 left in the first half when the Bearcats went on a 16-0 run to lead 35-30 with 1:22 left. Haley Parker broke the run with a layup with 36 seconds left. Jocelyn Cummings then got a steal and went coast to coast to cut the lead to one at the half.
Emporia State used an 8-0 run in the second half with five of the points coming from Hanf to take control of the game with a 57-45 lead at the 8:31 mark. The Lady Hornets would lead by as many as 17 before settling in for the 14 point victory.
Hanf became the first Lady Hornet to score at least 20 points in three straight games since Alli Volkens in 2010-11. She was joined in double figures by Laura Patrick with 11 points and Merissa Quick with ten. Hanf just missed her second double double finishing with a game high nine rebounds.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Thursday, February 7 when they play host to Lincoln. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in White Auditorium.
