HUA HIN, Thailand - Kansas women’s golfer Thanuttra “Fhong” Boonraksasat shot a 1-under par (71) Friday and finished tied for 15th at the Fourth Singha-Sat Thai LPGA Championship at Black Mountain Golf Course in Hua Hin, Thailand. Her 5-over (221) for the three-round tournament tied the Bangkok, Thailand, native for third among the 25 amateurs in the field.

A KU senior-to-be in 2013-14, Boonraksasat improved every round of the event, shooting a 4-over par (76) on Wednesday and a 2-over (74) Thursday. Her 5-over was two strokes from the top 10 and six strokes behind tournament winner Jaruporn Palakawong No Ayuthaya, who defeated Kusuma Meechai in a playoff. Both golfers finished the 54-hole event at 1-under.

Boonraksasat’s 1-under score in her final round was one of only 10 sub-par rounds on Friday’s final day among the 66-golfer field. Boonraksasat birdied her final two holes on Friday. She recorded six birdies for the event, including three on Wednesday.

Boonraksasat was second on the KU team in 2012-13 with a 75.9 stroke average. She was KU’s top scorer in five of 12 events during the season and posted six top-10 finishes her junior season.
