K-State’s Roos Continues Successful Summer
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State women’s golfer Hanna Roos won her second event of the summer as she captured the Cup Caroline title last week at Trelleborgs Golf Club in Trelleborg, Sweden.
Roos shot a 5-over par 75 in the opening round but bounced back with scores 69 and 72 in the final two rounds to finish at 6-over par 216. The senior-to-be ran away with the victory as she topped second-place finisher Anna Knutsson by eight strokes.
The Cup Caroline victory followed a win at the District Championship Tournament last month in Roserberg, Sweden. She was also recently named to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team for her performance in the classroom during the 2011-12 school year.
A native of Uppsala, Sweden, Roos finished her junior campaign with a 77.56 stroke average in nine events and came away with two top-20 finishes. Her best placing last year was a tie for 12th at the Westbrook Spring Invitational when she carded a 1-over par 217. She also led K-State at the Big 12 Championship by finishing in 15th place at 20-over par 230.
K-State opens the 2012 fall slate with the Chip-N-Club Invitational, September 10-11, at the Country Club of Lincoln in Lincoln, Neb.
