MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State sophomore-to-be Scotland Preston finished atop the leaderboard in the 2013 Women's Metropolitan Amateur Championship at The Creek Club in Locust Valley, N.Y., on Tuesday. Preston fired a 2-over 74, which included birdies on holes 8 and 14, to best runner-up Ellen Oswald by one stroke.

A native of Mountainside, N.J., Preston competed in six events for the Wildcats last season, with her best finish (T43rd) coming in the 2013 Mountain View Collegiate at the Mountain View Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.

Preston also found success in the classroom as she was twice named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll during her first year at K-State, which included a 4.0 GPA during the 2013 spring semester.

Updates on current and former Wildcat women’s golfers will be available at kstatesports.com throughout the summer.
