MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Wildcats will head to Texas for the third time this season and will play its second straight road game on Wednesday night, as Kansas State visits Austin to take on Texas at 7 p.m. Wednesday night’s game will mark the conclusion of K-State’s first half Big 12 schedule after facing each team in the league once.
Wednesday night’s contest will be broadcast on the Longhorn Network, as Dave Raymond and Fran Harris call the action. This will be the 156th K-State women’s basketball game to be broadcast on television. K-State holds an all-time record of 95-60 (.613) in televised games.
The game will also be available on the K-State Sports Network to radio stations throughout the state, as the award-winning Brian Smoller provides the play-by-play and K-State assistant director of athletics communications Randy Peterson will be on the color analysis.
K-State snapped a three-game skid in its last outing, defeating Oklahoma State in Stillwater on Saturday, 67-56. The Wildcats connected on 11-of-28 attempts from beyond the arc against the Cowgirls, including a 7-of-12 effort in the first half. K-State also tallied a 10-point advantage in points off turnovers (18-8).
Leading the way for the Wildcats on Saturday at Oklahoma State, was junior guard Brittany Chambers. The 2011 unanimous All-Big 12 first team selection registered her seventh career double-double and third this season with 29 points and 10 rebounds. Chambers set a new school record for points at Oklahoma State and surpassed the 20-point mark for the 19th time in her career. The native of Jordan, Minn., leads K-State in both scoring (16.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg) and ranks sixth and 14th in the Big 12 in those categories.
Also aiding the effort on Saturday was senior Tasha Dickey with 15 points and a career-high eight rebounds. The guard from Sandy, Utah, is third on the team in scoring with 10.0 points per game but is averaging 13.6 points in the last five games.
Following Wednesday night’s road game, K-State returns to Bramlage Coliseum to host No. 1 Baylor on Saturday night at 7 p.m. The contest against the Lady Bears will mark K-State’s participation in the NCAA’s “Pack the House” initiative.
