K-State Welcomes in Utah for WNIT Semifinals

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Playing its first game in the month of April and a school record 37th game, Kansas State will host Utah in the semifinals of the 2013 WNIT on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Wednesday night’s matchup features two of the top-20 all-time program wins leaders in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history, as K-State ranks 14th with 841 wins and Utah is 18th with 824 wins. K-State enters the game with a four-game winning streak and a 13-0 home record in WNIT games.

Tickets for Wednesday night’s game are now available online at kstatesports.com/tickets, by calling 1-800-221-CATS (2287) or in person at the ticket office, located inside the southwest entrance of Bramlage Coliseum. Tickets are priced as follows: $15 chairbacks, $10 general admission and $5 for students and kids.

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast for free on K-StateHD.TV and on the radio through the K-State Sports Network and for free online at kstatesports.com/allaccess. In the quarterfinals of the 2013 WNIT on March 30, K-State (19-17, 5-13 Big 12) cruised past Illinois, 66-48, in Bramlage Coliseum. K-State has held all four of its WNIT opponents to 49 points or less, which is the longest such streak since holding five straight opponents to 49 points or less from Dec. 7-20, 2011. The Wildcats were led by 2013 All-America candidate Brittany Chambers, who registered 21 points five assists and two steals. She has scored 20 or more points in the last nine games to set a school record. Over the nine games, she is averaging 27.1 points (244 points) on a .503 field goal percentage (87-of-173), including a .517 three-point field goal percentage (45-of-87) and has pulled in 7.8 rebounds (70 rebounds) and dished out 3.8 assists (34 assists).

K-State has been led in the WNIT by the duo of Chambers and sophomore guard Haley Texada. Chambers is averaging 28.5 points on a .541 field goal percentage including a .550 three-point field goal percentage, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Texada, playing in her first career postseason games this season, is averaging 13.8 points including a high of 16 points against Illinois, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
