K-State news release:
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State defensive back Allen Chapman has been selected to play in the 2013 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl all-star game presented by Winnol, the NFL Players Association announced today.
The senior defensive back from San Francisco will be one of many draft-eligible seniors competing in the all-star game on Saturday, January 19, at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised live on ESPN2. ESPNU will also air live broadcasts from practices on Thursday, January 17.
Chapman finished the year with 57 tackles, 10 passes defended and five interceptions which included a record night in a win over Oklahoma State. In that game, Chapman earned NCAA National FBS Defensive Player of the Week honors after he picked off three passes, including one for a score, to help the Wildcats hold off the Cowboys. He added two pass breakups and five tackles on the day while his three picks rank second in K-State single-game history.
In the Wildcats’ win over Texas, which secured the 2012 Big 12 title and a Tostitos Fiesta Bowl bid, Chapman again had an interception that led to a score to go along with four tackles, three of which were solo.
Chapman is the fifth Wildcat from the 2012 Big 12 Championship squad to earn invitations to postseason all-star games this year as linebacker Arthur Brown and wide receiver Chris Harper will play in the Senior Bowl, and quarterback Collin Klein and defensive back Nigel Malone will play in the East/West Shrine game.
