Big 12 champion and No. 12/14 Kansas State (27-7, 14-4 Big 12) earned its 27th NCAA Tournament appearance, including its fifth in the last six seasons, by receiving an at-large bid to the tournament. It is the school’s record seventh consecutive postseason appearance (5 NCAAs and 2 NITs) and just the second time in history that it has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in four straight seasons (also done from 1986-90).
The Wildcats are the No. 4 seed in the West Regional and will play the winner of the 13-seed play-in game between Boise State (21-10) and La Salle (21-9).
K-State will be playing in an NCAA Tournament game in Kansas City for the ninth time in its history, which includes Final Four appearances in 1948, 1951 and 1964. It will be the first NCAA Tournament game in the city since playing in the Final Four against UCLA and Michigan at Municipal Auditorium on March 20-21, 1964.
