Holton, Kan. (WIBW)-- Holton High School is notorious for having winning athletic teams and a national contest could land them as the most successful in the country.

An online competition through USA Today has named Holton one of five Kansas schools as having the top boys athletics programs in the state for 2014.

Fans are encouraged to vote through August 26, at 1pm, for who tops the list between Blue Valley, Blue Valley Northwest, Hutchinson and
Wichita Heights.

Athletic Dirctor Jason Schroeder says win or lose, sports at Holton is much more than competition, "Sports success here at Holton boosts community moral and school spirit. The bar has been set and our kids strive to reach it and push it higher. Many have parents and grandparents that went here with their names are on the wall and expectations are high but we relish in that and we try to achieve them."
If Holton wins the state competition, they would be entered in a regional and then national competition.

The national grand prize nets the school $1,000 for the athletic department.

To vote head to usatodayhss.com before 1 pm Tuesday.
