TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Hayden baseball enters state as the 4A defending champs.
Coach Bill Arnold says the experience complements a solid foundation of pitching and defense, plus some intangibles. He says the team has a great camaraderie and enjoys being together and playing the game.
Senior Quinton Smith says it is good that many players had the experience of winning state last year. He says it means they know the expectations and how to get the job done.
Hayden is seeded fourth in 4A-I. Their title defense begins Thursday against Paola in Salina.
