LAWRENCE Ks. PGA Tour Golfer, Topekan, and Jayhawk Gary Woodland just wrapped up the U.S. Open. And on Monday he made a special appearance in Lawrence for the Under Armour/Gary Woodland Championship.
The young, American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), golfers were absorbing Woodland's tutorial at the Alvamar Country Club.
After a series of questions, four lucky golfers were randomly selected to tee off with Woodland right by their side.
Woodland said, "There's no place like home, my family is still here, my friends are still here. So I love coming home I love being back. Obviously this is a great opportunity to give back. Hopefully some kids here can get some recognition on a national stage. Get some experience, and for me to be apart of it is pretty cool."
Brooke Nolte, AJGA Golfer said, "It was really neat because he was once in our position where we really want to work hard to get to that spot. And he reached that spot so he's a real role model to everybody. He really gave us encouragement to reach our dreams and our goals."
