November 7, 2012- A get together and 5k run to help offset the medical and travel expenses for Emporia State defensive coordinator Oscar Rodriguez has been set for Sunday, November 11 at on the Emporia State campus. Due to the forecast of inclement weather registration will begin in Gym D of the HPER Building.

Coach Rodriguez was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer and began undergoing chemo treatments last week. He began having seizures last spring and was originally diagnosed with epilepsy. Upon further investigation it was determined that he had testicular cancer. Although he has missed a considerable amount of practice time, he had made it to every game up until the Northwest Missouri game when he was ordered to stay away by his doctors.

Coach Rodriguez and the Emporia State football team are scheduled to be in Gym D to visit with people. A suggested donation of $30 will cover your entry fee and t-shirt commemorating the event. Registration will take place in Gym D of the HPER Building beginning at 9 a.m. Those who wish to run will be able to use Witten Track at Welch Stadium beginning at 10 a.m.
