ST. LOUIS (MVC-Sports.com) Wichita State dominates the 2014 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball all-league units as three WSU starters made the first team. In all, five Wichita State players received all-league honors. Voting was conducted by coaches, sports information directors and a media panel (voters could not vote for their own student-athlete.)

The first-team unit consists of six players (there was a tie for the fifth honoree). Three sophomores, one junior, and two seniors comprise the MVC First Team. In addition, Shocker starters Fred VanVleet, Cleanthony Early and Ron Baker -- all named to the league's first-team unit -- become the first trio from the same team to earn first-team all-MVC honors since 1973 (and in that season, the league selected a 10-person First Team.)

The specialty awards, including the Larry Bird Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Sixth Man of the Year will be announced at 2 pm on Tuesday (March 4).
