Senior middle hitter Jessica Fey was named a first team Daktronics All-American as the team was release Thursday morning. She became Washburn's first Daktronics first-teamer and the third Lady Blue to earn at least three All-America awards in her career.
Fey was already named the Daktronics Central Region and MIAA player of the year this year. She was also an AVCA all-region first-teamer and AVCA honorable mention All-American. Last year she also earned honorable mention All-America from the AVCA.
Fey finished her career third at Washburn with a .322 attack percentage and her .357 percentage this year is the fourth-highest in school history. She totaled 1,211 kills in her four years, the 13th-highest total in school history. Her 342 total blocks is 13th in school history and she's the ninth player in Washburn history to end her career with over 1,000 kills and 300 blocks.
She finished the year second in the MIAA in attack percentage and fourth with 3.31 kills a set.
Fey is Washburn's fourth player to earn first team All-America. Last year she became the eighth Lady Blue to earn All-America and this award gives head coach Chris Herron 17 All-America honors during his 11 years of leadership. He's coached at least one All-American in every year but his first, 2002.
