March 9, 2013 - The Emporia State men earned two All-American honors on the final day of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships. As a team the Hornets placed 21st overall in the men’s competition.
Payson Maydew started Saturday off with a top ten finish in the men’s heptathlon. The only freshman in the field scored 5,066 points in the seven events.
Andrew Etheridge earned another All-American honor in the 60m hurdles. He ran an 8.00 to place fifth in the event.
Derwin Hall ran 6.80 to earn his first individual All-American honor with sixth place finish in the 60m.
The women’s 4x400m relay team ran the third fastest time in Emporia State history to finish 11th overall. The four some of Marqueita Marisette, Peyton Weiss, Lindsay Kunkel, and Jackie Jacobs clocked a 3:47.53 to end the competition in Birmingham for the Hornets.
Emporia State is scheduled to start the outdoor season on Thursday, March 14 with the ESU Spring Open at the Witten Track in Welch Stadium.
