Emporia State Lady Hornet Game Notes vs. Central Methodist

Emporia State returns to White Auditorium to take on NAIA #25 Central Methodist in the final regular season game against non-MIAA schools this year.

THE COACHES
Jory Collins is 47-22 in his third year as the head coach of the Lady Hornets and has guided them to the MIAA Tournament Championship Game in each of his first two seasons. He has six wins against Top 25 teams. This is his 12th season on the Lady Hornet coaching staff and ESU has advanced to the NCAA tournament in ten of those seasons. This is his first meeting with Central Methodist.
James Arnold is 30-14 in his second year at Central Methodist. This is his first meeting with Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-4 on the year and 0-2 in the MIAA. They opened MIAA play falling in two road games and have played six of their first eight games on the road. The Lady Hornets have four players averaging in double figures led by Laura Patrick's 15.4 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT
Laura Patrick's career high 29 points were not enough for Emporia State as the Lady Hornets fell 74-67 to Abilene Christian in Canyon, Texas. Rachel Hanf was the only other Lady Hornet in double figures, finishing with a season high 17 points. Rheanna Egli dished a career high nine assists with two turnovers, but was one of ten from the field. Desiree Wylie had a career high 12 rebounds and Jocelyn Cummings tied her career high with 11 boards.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Central Methodist is 13-1 on the year, 2-1 in the Heart of America Conference and ranked #25 in the NAIA. Their one loss is to Evangel, a team Emporia State defeated 79-50 in exhibition action. The Eagles are ranked sixth in the NAIA in assists and rebounds and are tenth in made three pointers. Raylyn Nuss is the leading scorer for CMU at 11.1 points per game and had 40 made three-pointers on the year. Britney Joseph pulls down a team high 8.8 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES
This is the third meeting all-time between Emporia State and Central Methodist. All three match-ups will have taken place in White Auditorium. The Lady Hornets have averaged 104.0 points per game in the first two meetings.

LAST TIME VS. CENTRAL METHODIST
Allie Renberg scored a career high 26 points with 12 rebounds and All-American Michelle Stueve added 24 points and seven boards as the #14 Lady Hornets defeated Central Methodist 111-51 in White Auditorium in a Friday afternoon contest. The Lady Hornets were 23 of 23 from the line breaking an MIAA record previously held by Washburn when they went 22 of 22 against Seattle Pacific in 1997.

UP NEXT
The Lady Hornets will travel to Topeka after the New Year to take on #6 Washburn in a non-conference battle. Tip-off for the Turnpike Tussle has been moved to 5:30 p.m. in Lee Arena.
