LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) --- Joel Embiid is heading to the NBA. The freshman 7-footer made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, just a week after fellow Jayhawk - and freshman - Andrew Wiggins announced he was going pro.
Embiid is projected by most experts as a top-3 pick in this year's NBA Draft,
Although he was a 5-star recruit out of high school, Embiid was seen as more of a project than a sure fire 1-and-done prospect. Under Bill Self, however, Embiid has blossomed more quickly than expected.
The Cameroon-native averaged 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game.
Embiid did have issues with his back, however, that kept him out of 7 games, including the Big 12 and NCAA Tournaments.
