Kansas City, Mo. – Pittsburg State’s Tiffany Brown has been named the MIAA/AstroTurf Softball Hitter of the Week and Emporia State’s Kaitlyn Caston has been named the AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week.

Tiffany Brown, OF, Pittsburg State
Brown set the MIAA single season home run record in the first inning of game one against Drury on Wednesday, April 16. She added two more home runs to her total in the following two games and now has 26 home runs this season. She needs just three more to set the NCAA single season home run record with four regular season games remaining. Brown also tied the Pittsburg State single season RBI record with her 71st of the season in game two of the doubleheader. Brown needs just four more RBI to set the school RBI record. In PSU’s four games last week, Brown hit .400 with six RBI and five runs scored and three home runs. She had a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week. The 5-6 senior outfielder is a native of Catoosa, Okla. where she competed at Catoosa High School.

MIAA/AstroTurf Pitcher of the Week
Kaitlyn Caston, P, Emporia State
Caston picked up all three wins for Emporia State last week, two in starts and one in relief. She went the distance in the #6 Hornets 8-3 win over Central Missouri to start the week. She came on in relief in the seventh after Emporia State had given up a 3-1 lead and got the final two batters of the inning out as the Hornets came from behind in the bottom of the seventh for an 8-7 win. She then got her nations best 28th win of the season, allowing just one earned run on two hits in Emporia States 4-1 win over Southwest Baptist. Her 28 wins rank sixth on the Emporia State single season list. The junior pitcher is a native of Burlington, Iowa where she competed at West Burlington High School.
