Chiefs' Andy Reid Talks About Alex Smith's Contract

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Kansas City Chiefs are inching closer to August 7th. Which is the first game at Arrowhead Stadium in the 2014 season. It's the first preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Chiefs QB Alex Smith, who is 30, is looking for a new deal before he becomes a free agent in the 2015 season.

The Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid said, "There's communications going on. I told you before that is the important thing. Alex is a good football player and he's great for this football team. We're lucky to have him here. They are working through it, and we'll see what happens. These things take time, you know how the game goes."
