EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) _ NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer is donating
$10,000 to help a tornado-stricken Kansas town located 19 miles
from his native Emporia.

The donation from the Clint Bowyer 79 Fund goes to the United
Way of the Flint Hills to aid the people of Reading. The Lyon County community was hit by an EF3 tornado the night of May 21. One person was killed and dozens of homes and other buildings were destroyed in the town of about 240 people.

United Way director Jami Reever told The Emporia Gazette the
Flint Hills chapter has received more than $53,000 from area
residents, with more donations coming in from throughout Kansas.

Reever says the United Way will confer with officials from
Emporia and Lyon County on how to use the donations.
