Washburn took the opener 6-1 and won the second game 3-0 and improved to 20-19 overall and 19-15 in the MIAA. The Blue Tigers fell to 1-34 and 0-30 in the MIAA. The series will conclude Saturday with a 12 p.m. doubleheader and Washburn's 10 seniors will be honored between games.

Ash struck out eight Blue Tigers to pass Mike Lineback (1982-85) and move to second in school history, now with 189. He gave up a run in the first inning off two hits but allowed just one more hit and hit a batter the final six innings. He moved to 5-1 on the year.

Washburn broke a 1-1 tie with a five-run fifth inning that featured three doubles. Payton Soicher hit one to left center and then was part of Parker Gibson's three-run double. Corey Gragg then drove in Gibson with a double to left.

Payton Soicher went 3 for 3 with an RBI single in the second inning to tie the game. Four other Ichabods recorded a hit each as Washburn had seven.

The second game was a pitcher's dual between Gentry and Lincoln's Nathan Lueckenhoff. Kyle Carnahan was hit by a pitch with two outs in the sixth and he scored on Matt Jackson's double. Washburn added two more in the seventh on an RBI single from Corey Gragg and a wild pitch that scored Gragg.
