The NFCA released the High School All American teams today and Washburn Rurals own Alyssa Carney made 1st team. This honor is the highest individual award a player can receive. She was the only softball player from Kansas to receive this honor.
The senior outfield was among the city leaders in batting average, home runs, and stolen bases.According the NFCA, Carney hit .554 with 46 runs scored, 10 doubles, nine HR’s and 32 RBIs while helping the Blues to the KSHSAA 6A Championship Game.
Washburn Rural took 2nd this year falling short of a perfect season with their only lose coming in the 6A State title match against Olathe East.
